I love the quick reference that Zoe Foster has for essential beauty products:

Handbag

• 1 x concealer OR foundation stick that doubles as a concealer
• 1 x creme blush with a mirror, if possible
• 1 x black kohl / eyeliner
• 1 x lipstick of your choice
• 1 x nude gloss
• bobby pins
• hair elastic

Optional: A Travelo with your favourite frangrance. (Travalos are little aluminum bullets that you can pump you own fragrance into. They are magnificent.) Or make your own solid perfume: place some Vaseline into a small tin and spray in your scent, mixing it through the Vaseline as you do.

Makeup Kit

• 1 x foundation
• 1 x concealer
• 1 x blush (creme and powder)
• 1 x bronzer
• 1 x black eyeliner (pencil or gel)
• 1 x natural / brown eye shadow quad
• 1 x mascara
• 1 x nude gloss
• 1 x red (or pink – up to you) lipstick
• 1 x fluffy blush brush
• 1 x thin, angled liner brush
• 1 x mid-sized eye shadow brush
• 1 x brow pencil with brush / comb

Optional: Lash curler, illuminator (translucent or regular) powder, primer, coloured eye shadow to flatter your eye colour and all thebrushes listed in this post.

Bathroom cupboard

• 1 x broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen that doubles as a moisturiser
• 1 x eye cream
• 1 x serum or treatment product (rosehip is foolproof, cheap option)
• 1 x dedicated night cream
• 1 x body lotion
• 1 x body sunscreen
• 1 x deodorant
• 1 x purifying / deep-cleansing / chemical exfoliant mask or peel
• 1 x hydrating, nourishing, brightening, firming or radiance mask
• 1 x fragrance

Optional: Self-tanner, gradual tanner, body oil

Shower

• 1 x body wash
• 1 x body exfoliator
• 1 x facial cleanser
• 1 x facial exfoliator
• 1 x shampoo and conditioner
• 1 x hair mask
• 1 x razor with inbuilt gel strip

Optional: Lavender essential oil and washcloth (chuck the cloth over the drain and drip on a few drops of the oil for an instant day spa)
